National Championship Invitational 3v3 Success for U12 Team

Joe Pietropola has been training some of his NA D4 Travel girls all year long at 3v3 soccer. They competed earlier in the year over the summer in local and regional tournaments. At the regional tournament they qualified to compete in the National Championship Invitational held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, sponsored by Disney January 18-20.

Six players went down to compete. (5 of which play on his NA Travel team, the 6th was from Seneca Valley)

They registered as North Allegheny and represented the club and the area quite well. We're really proud of not only the results they delivered but more importantly the effort they put forth. There were 14 teams competing for the National Championship. They came from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and a few other states.

On Saturday, the 1st day of competition, the girls went 2-1 (including two come from behind victories). These results propelled them into the Gold Bracket (Top 6 teams) going into day two.

On Sunday they went 1-2, but based on tie breakers, as 4 of the 6 teams had the same record, (it was very competitive and evenly matched) we achieved the 3rd seed headed into Monday, the playoff round and final day of competition.

Monday, the girls won in the quarter finals, but then lost in the semi-finals. They finished with a loss in the 3rd/4th place consolation game, but
did finish 4th out of the 14 teams.
